A few tips for the wiki

  1. To unlock the pages of this wiki for editing, you have to create an account and log in (see UserPreferences)

  2. If you're new to wikis, see HelpForBeginners

  3. Text formatting tips are just under the Edit window. More tips are at HelpOnEditing.

  4. Subscribing to a page - sending you email when a page changes. There are at least three ways:
    1. click in the "envelope" icon in the upper right to subscribe to the page you are on
    2. edit UserPreferences -> "Subscribed Wiki Pages" with regular expressions of all the pages you want to be subscribed to.

      • Note: .* (dot star) will subscribe you to all pages

    3. you can add the RSS feed available on the RecentChanges page to your RSS aggregator

  5. Quick Links (wiki favorites):
    • edit UserPreferences -> "Quick Links" box that can customize to change the short cut links presented at the top of each page. For example, try putting this into the Quick links box:

      • FrontPage
        RecentChanges
        XdiUseCases
        XdiGlossary

  6. If you're looking for some page but don't know where it is in the (constantly changing) tables of contents, use the title search and/or text search fields at the bottom of each page.

    • Once you've found the page you've been looking for, you can find the "parent" pages that link to it (to more easily find it again in the future) by clicking on the page's title at the top.
  7. Warning! Sometimes after editing a page and saving it you choose to edit the same page again. Look carefully! Browsers have been known to load a cached version of the Edit page - meaning if you don't pay close attention you might be editing the old version of the page. If you do have a cached edit page, just click refresh and you'll get an edit page for the new content.
  8. Some of the coolest features of MoinMoin are accessed via the eight tiny icons in the upper right of every page. Mouse over them for hints or click on them to try them out. You can always hit your browser's Back button to get back.
